Setting Your Ally ip100 IP address to 169.254.1.1NOTE: The Ally ip100 is designed to be installed in a running network that is connected to the Internet. If the Ally ip100 is being installed in an isolated environment, such as an evaluation lab, you will need to set a static IP address for the unit, using one of two methods. The first method is to install the unit first in a typical network with access to the Internet. After installation, you can access the management pages and assign the IP address using Internet Explorer. If you don't have access to the Internet, you can use the following physical reset method to force the Ally ip100 to use 169.254.1.1 : Getting Started: For this embedded address assignment to work, you will need two devices, powered up, with RJ-45 (ethernet 10BaseT or 100BaseT) ports and correct cables.
Upon completing step 12, the Ally ip100 will reboot. It will take approximately 45 seconds for the rebot to occur. Once the solid connection light has lit, your Ally ip100 has been assigned 169.254.1.1 for an IP address on the LAN interface. Set your test network equipment up accordingly in order to access the management pages to continue. At least one computer attached to the LAN side of the Ally ip100 must use 169.254.?.? in order to make this connection. (Where the ? is a number in the range of 1-254.)
