Ally ip100 Management Access

NOTE: The Ally ip100 is designed to be installed in a running network that is connected to the Internet. This design provides non-technical administrators the easiest of installations since it does not require reconfiguring any IP addresses of the Ally appliance OR the PC used to manage the appliance.

If the Ally ip100 is being installed in an isolated environment, such as an evaluation lab, you should follow the directions on HERE.

  1. Check that the Ally ip100 is connected by verifying each end has 1 solid green LED lit. These LEDs show that the cable and speed of the connections are correct
  2. Check that traffic is flowing through the Ally ip100 by verifying the other two LEDs, one at each end opposite to the solid lit LED, is flickering. These LEDs flicker on and off when traffic is being passed through the appliance.
  3. While sitting at a computer that is on the LAN, or protected, network segment, open up Internet Explorer (version 5 or higher is required)
  4. Key this address into the URL field:    ally.arxceo.com
  5. Login as Username: administrator  ;  Password is:  arxceo

Within a few seconds, you should see the first management screen. It is the End User License Agreement (EULA). You must review and accept these agreement before the appliance will begin protecting your network.

After accepting the agreement, you will be prompted to change the password. Please remember the new one as the only method to recover from a lost password is a complete "restore to factory defaults".

Ally IP1000 Management Access

The Ally IP1000 is managed through a graphical user interface (GUI), called the Ally Management Console. The GUI provides a convenient, secure portal for remotely managing the configuration settings or for viewing the Ally IP1000’s event log, blacklists, and statistics counters. The Ally Management Console can be accessed through the Management Adapter from a remote web browser or from a locally attached monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

Connecting to the Ally Management Console from Another System on the Administrative (or out-of-band) Network:

  1. Temporarily change the IP address and subnet mask of another system on your out-of-band management network to 169.254.x.x, 255.255.0.0  (Do not use 169.254.1.1)
  2. Key in https://169.254.1.1 into the URL address field of the web browser on the system used in step 1. This address references the Ally IP1000 Management Adapter’s default IP address preset by Arxceo, prior to shipment.  NOTE: management access must use HTTPS, not HTTP.
  3. Login as Username:  administrator
                      Password:  arxceo
  4. The first time the Ally Management Console is accessed, you will be required to accept the End User License Agreement (EULA). If you do not accept the terms of the EULA, the product will pass network traffic without providing protection.
  5. Your browser will be redirected to the “Login Account Management” page on the Ally Management Console and require you to change the password. (You cannot use the password arxceo.) Select “Apply”.
  6. DO NOT FORGET THIS PASSWORD. The only recovery is to totally wipe and rebuild the unit's entire diskdrive.
  7. Next select the Ally Management Console “Network Adapter Configuration” page. Set the Management Adapter IP address, subnet mask, and other IP configuration information as appropriate for your out-of-band administrative network, or enable automatic configuration through DHCP if desired. Select “Apply”. This will cause the web browser system to lose access to the Ally IP1000 if you have changed the IP address to match your out-of-band address scheme.
  8. Reset the IP address and subnet mask of the system used in Step 1 back to the original address. All systems, including the Ally IP1000, should now be assigned appropriate IP addresses used by your organization.
  9. Now you can use the system from Step 1 to reconnect to https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the new address of the Ally IP1000.
